Healing Salves

One of the issues that most gamers run in to while playing in AtB is healing from damage.  I've already posted one article on a the Panacea Goat as an option for healing illness and disease, but healing wounds caused by gunfire, blades, horns, claws or even fire have been difficult to address.

Then came this, VetiGel.  VetiGel is a real-life anticoagulant that offers much more promise in the future, and seems to be something that could be produced in a setting such as AtB.  One could say that at some point it's potential was grafted into some plant life, which could be harvested, packaged and marketed in game.

In the video, the CEO mentions that the technology may be able to be applied to the regeneration of organs some day.  Limbs may be a stretch, but in a game environment, who knows...

I'll have to come up with a item description, name, and mechanics for it.

Robot Water Snake

AtB isn't just about mutant anthropomorphic animals fighting against the remnants of humanity...

It's also about scary robot water snakes that want to hunt you and drown you!

The Abandoned Pyramid of North Dakota

This place needs to be used in an AtB adventure.  It's an old radar station from the cold war.

It looks like the remains of some futuristic cult. This slowly-eroding cement pyramid in Nekoma, North Dakota is all that's left of a $6 billion nuclear launch facility created as part of the Safeguard Program.

2nd Edition After the Bomb Origin

In the original After the Bomb game supplement for TMNT:AOS and Heroes Unlimited, the background for the setting was that radiation and fallout from a nuclear war was what killed off the majority of the human race and created the mutations that led to the rise of mutant animals.  Typical for a setting that was created in the 80s.

In 2nd Edition, the setting was moved from the 80's to a period somewhere in the middle of the 21st Century where bio-tech is as commonplace as home computers and smartphones.  Now, instead of the animal mutations and human death being caused by nuclear armageddon, a genetic plague is to blame.  There is still nuclear armageddon, but it's more responsible to the collapse of what little society was left behind.

Today, I found the attached video which describes how gene therapy today could be used to mess with genetics.  Just imagine if someone were to patch something like this onto a flu virus and loosed it on the world.
